About this property

Welcome to Arden House

Arden House is a modest 3-star hotel with a traditional style and a unique Shakespeare-themed décor, located in a quiet residential area of Birmingham. Guests can expect a selection of clean, comfortable rooms featuring some recent renovations, such as built-in beverage areas. The property offers free Wi-Fi, free breakfast with made-to-order options, and parking for a limited number of cars. It operates a smoke-free environment and provides an airport shuttle service, though it does not accommodate pets or include a fitness center or pool.

Situated at 74 Maple Leaf Drive, the hotel benefits from easy access to major transport links, being just 2.5 miles from Birmingham Airport and close to The NEC Birmingham and Castle Bromwich Hall and Gardens Trust. This makes it a practical choice for visitors attending events at the National Exhibition Centre or requiring proximity to the airport. Reviews often highlight the hotel’s quiet location and convenient access to nearby venues, while some note the need for modest updates in bathroom areas.

Feedback from guests tends to be positive regarding the attentive and friendly staff, cleanliness, and the distinctive Hamlet-themed rooms. However, some visitors suggest that the hotel better suits travelers who prioritize location and budget over luxury, as facilities are basic and certain elements, such as breakfast options, have received mixed comments. The relaxed atmosphere and community feel might appeal to business visitors or those attending nearby events rather than leisure travelers looking for extensive amenities.

Nearby attractions include the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery with its notable collections, Cadbury World’s interactive chocolate exhibits, and the bustling National Exhibition Centre. Arden House is also surrounded by a range of hotels, from budget to mid-range options, providing several alternatives within a short distance of the airport and event spaces.

You get what you pay for. I'd read other reviews so wasn't expecting great things but ultimately it's what you pay for. It's a really quiet "hotel" but the staff member we spoke to was very polite and helpful. If you're staying here because it's close to the resorts world arena then you should do. If you're staying here as a random hotel choice that's cheap, maybe look at other options if you plan to stay inside your room more than just to sleep in. There were a few quirks with the room (see upside down coat hanger in photos, and a door that had to be lifted to properly shut) but nothing deal breaking. Our ground floor room didn't have much privacy with big open windows facing the garden but work was being done so we had to keep these closed the entire time to have some privacy. The curtains didn't fully close but we worked around it. Bed was comfortable and room was clean, with toiletries provided. Parking was fine for us staying midweek but imagine it gets full at busy periods.

Lovely local friendly hotel. Parking for a few cars at the front at the hotel. Quiet area within a residential area. Breakfast is always made to order. There are 3 or 4 tables in the breakfast room, so not much of an atmosphere. Cereals, fresh fruit and yogurts are available on the side to eat in addition to the cooked breakfast. The rooms are clean and the bed is always comfortable. Some new renovations to the bedroom with the wardrobe, and built in beverage area with teas and coffees and biscuits. The only downside is they were rich tea biscuits. The shower room is clean, it does need renovating as there was a bit of mould around the siliconed areas around the shower. However, everything has been cleaned thoroughly and is very pleasant if you like beyond that. The owner is friendly and helpful. I have stayed here a few times and would use them again as there is easy access to the dual carriageway.

Stayed here for work. Tidy, clean, comfy and the owners are lovely. I would have no problem recommending to others. It's also very close to the NEC and the journey time is only 10minutes by car.

Stayed with a colleague while exhibiting at The NEC. Very welcoming hosts, very accommodating with early breakfasts to enable us to get to the venue on time. Clean and comfortable rooms of high standard. Intriguing Shakespeare theme. One oddity there wasn't any bacon on the cooked breakfast and I think it was a 'vegetarian' sausage but that may have been due to the proprietors religious belief.

We stayed here for one night and really felt welcome as soon as we arrived. The room was lovely and clean and decorated lovely! The staff were helpful in helping us decide where to eat in the evening and also put on a lovely breakfast! Nice and quiet location away from all the riff raff of Birmingham centre but close enough to be able to get somewhere quickly!

Nice place, clean, tidy, pleasant, no complaints. Read a lot of not very good reviews and was worried. Can't honestly think of anything bad to say. We will definitely stay here again when we come back down to Marston Green.
